Mechanical and Biological Filters for Koi Ponds and Water Gardens

Filters are important for any size goldfish pond, koi pond, turtle pond or water garden to keep the water fresh and clean without constantly replenishing with new water.  

There are 2 types of filtration methods:  Mechanical Filtration means filtering out debris and solids to keep the water clean while Biological Filtration is for promoting the growth of and maintaining healthy nitrifying bacteria (bacteria responsible for keeping the water healthy and free of pollutants such as ammonia and nitrites.)  Most of the filters listed in this category will do both types of filtration though some models are geared more for Mechanical or Biological functions.
